Insurance Reform bills May Offer some Relief for Homeowners in Coastal AL

The rising price of insurance for homeowners in Coastal
Alabama was the topic of the Coastal Alabama Insurance Symposium held in Point
Clear last Wednesday. Many homeowners
expressed their concerns that something needed to be done to make insurance
more affordable and readily available. While some resorts like the Beach Club in Gulf Shores have seen a 40
percent decrease from the previous year, homeowners are not seeing the same
trend just yet.

As reported last Wednesday at NBC 15 news online, Alabama
State Senator Ben Brooks is proposing to have two bills passed that will offer “incentives
for carriers to write in south Mobile and Baldwin County.” Senator Brooks’ insurance reform bills were
filed in September and they are to be discussed in the next legislative session
in Montgomery Alabama in February.

For more information on these bills visit Bill 3 and Bill 5.
