Fairhope City Council are concerned that Baldwin County commissioners
will intrude on the city’s zoning authority if they pass the new flood-prone
zoning regulations. In response, the
Council passed a resolution to send a letter that will highlight the conflicts
that they would like the commission to resolve before they go ahead with their
plans. Fairhope officials hope to maintain
clear authority within the city’s planning jurisdictions, indicating that this
includes the 1 ½ miles outside the city limits.
There have also been some other concerns with the
flood-prone regulations, including whether insurance companies will increase
