Boeing and Northrop Grumman meet with DOD officials

In the ongoing battle for the Tanker contract, recent rumors have circulated about Boeing dropping out of the race. Aviation Week, an aerospace industry magazine, reported Monday that Boeing was “strongly considering” not submitting a proposal for the $40 billion U.S. Air Force contract. Although Boeing spokesman Dan Beck did not support this rumor, he reported to WKRG News 5 that speculation on the matter is premature and that Boeing expects to be part of a fair competition without biases that may have been present in the original competition.

In the meantime, both Northrop Grumman and Boeing have met with Department of Defense (DOD) officials and feel they are on the same page as far as expected changes to be made and that the final amendment will lead to the best possible production of the new aircraft design.
