AL’s Unemployment Rate Sees Slight Drop in August 2010

According to a recent WKRG.com article, Alabama’s unemployment rate has dropped below the national average.  This August marks the first time since November 2008 that Alabama’s unemployment rate has been lower than the country’s average.  The Alabama Department of Industrial Relations reported that August’s unemployment rate decreased from 9.7 percent the month before to 9.2 percent; this is slightly less than the national average of 9.6 percent for August.

Other data indicated that south AL counties have seen a slight increase in their unemployment rate including Mobile and Baldwin.  For more information on this and other Gulf Coast AL news, visit WKRG.com.
