Sales of New Homes Increase in September

According to a recent report from the Commerce Department, sales of new homes took a surprising increase in September; single-family new home sales increased by 2.7 percent this past September 2008.  This was unexpected as many economists had predicted a drop in sales due to the numbers from August.    It was also reported that median home prices decreased to their lowest level in four years.  The median price of new homes sold last month was $218,400, which is a 9.1 percent decrease compared to a year ago.
